Last month our team received the opportunity to spend most of our month doing a ministry focus called Ask The Lord or as we simply call it, ATL. Basically, we spent the month filling our days up with prayer and seeking out what God would have us do. We got to see a ton of fruit from saturating our days in prayer and obeying the Father’s voice. We found multiple local churches to partner with. We found a school to help teach English in. We visited a number of local coffee shops and shared the Gospel with many locals. Uber was the cheapest way to get around so we got to use that a ton as ways to open up conversation about Jesus. The amount of “random” encounters we faced where we got to share the Love of God is truly beyond my comprehension. This was huge to me because we spent all this time in a place where it’s literally illegal to evangelize to Muslims and over 60% of the country is Muslim.
Facing this “hinderance” to converting Muslims to Christianity weighed heavy on my soul, but it didn’t for long. God refocused my mind and taught me that it isn’t my job to convert Muslims! He showed me how obsurd that very thought is. The internal transformation we call “Salvation” is between an individual and the Lord Himself. God reminded me about this through the following passage:
“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar–jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
– Matthew 16:17 KJV
The purpose of this blog is not to dive into the inner working intricacies of salvation so I won’t even begin going through all that (don’t hold your breath my beloved Calvinists and dear Arminians). I’m writing this blog to share that God taught me my job is to love Him and love others. He taught me this through the following passage:
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
– Matthew 22:37?-?40 KJV
That’s it. That is (in a very simplified form) my job description on this Earth.
– To fall in a deeper love with God every single day; whether that be through His Word, prayer, worship, His creation, or many other ways that point my gaze to Him.
– To love him and strive to love others with the same relentless love which He extends to me constantly.
– To love every Christian, Muslim, Aetheist, Coffee shop barista, and Uber driver. Some times its easy. Most times its not, but praise the LORD because His love is unconditional.
As I continue this life I pray He will fill me with His love so I may love others relentlessly and entrust their hearts to His hands.
here’s one of many “wefies” (not a selfie because selfies are selfish and you do them alone, this about “we”) we took with Uber driver friends!
