A couple of weeks ago Fargo had city wide rummage sales.  Even better for Kristin and I, was what followed – city wide curb pick-up week.  The wonderful week where people place their unwanted items on the curb for anyone to take or for the garbage men to pick-up.  For Kristin it means a chance to find some old items to re-purpose (chairs, pallets, etc.)  I managed to find a Table Saw on the curb.  It was broken.  The man who owned it saw me checking it out and told me it was done for, he had already replaced it.  It was not even worth his time to look it over.

But to me it was gold.  I saw a prayer being answered.  I took it home and found it only needed a power cord fixed. No extra cost to me and it only took 45 minutes to fix.  Now it is being used to help us finish craft projects and create new items to help us with fundraising.

Sometimes we feel like we’ve been tossed out on the curb. We start to believe we are all used up.  We feel like we’re too broken to serve any real purpose, especially when it comes to serving God.  How can we possible be good enough for Him?  Who would listen to what we have to say?

God still wants to use us.  He knows all of us, our strengths and our weaknesses.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: ‘Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.'” – 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

We may be broken, but God is calling us. He has a purpose for us yet.
