I worked in Panajachel today with the guys from the Blue & Yellow Teams  building a home for a family of 7 who lost their home in the mudslide caused by hurricane Stan on October 4th 2005.  We also built a longdrop (outhouse) consiting of a 1×1 square hole 6′ deep with a bench with a hole for a seat  which will be enclosed.  The house is about 20X14 with a partition, 1 room being for sleeping, the other living space.  Very simplistic, a block foundation, corrugated steel walls & ceiling, 1 door, 2 windows & a cement floor.  Amazing how these people have it right, they are happy, they greet each other on the streets & seem to be beautiful people.  They are so appreciative for the work we are doing & not afraid to show it.  It is such a contrast between the consumerist society we live in & the relational society they live in.  Not to say they don’t have their problems for we all need Christ.    I am blessed to be here & I thank God daily.
