Spent time with my friend Brian from Manhattan last night, our last time hanging out. Brian is a 27 year old alcholic/addict who struggles with past hurts, it’s a nice reminder of where I was not long ago. I enjoy spending time with him, he’s very intelligent. I see a lot of myself in Brian & it is nice to talk to someone who understands my vantage point, even if it’s wrong. Most of my time ministering with Brian has been hanging out, kicking it, he is not very open to God, or talking about God. So the way around that is to just be a friend & talk about life, the good the bad & everything in between, in that we get a glimpse of God, the God of love. Just showing people we really care. He knows I’m a missionary, I told him God loves him. And I told him if it ever gets too bad, God is always there, I need to remember that too. I leave for Panajachel today for debrief & on to Matamoros to work with Thomi. Please pray that God will move in Matamoros & that Thomi & I can have a good rapport. Adios. Hugh.
