In the past few weeks, God has been teaching me so much…

I know that doesn’t give much detail, but I need to pray through how I go about wording what’s happening in my own life and how I go about sharing it. I’m not sure words can do it justice right now anyways, if you know what I mean. God is just that good!

I wanted to touch base and give y’all a little update about Charles.

Since I last blogged, we’ve had the opportunity to visit Charles a couple times, to see how he’s doing and try figure out how we could better serve him. He’s a precious man, but can be tough to get a hold of some times! He’s like a fart in a whirlwind!

Last week, Hugh, Sammie Jo, Mark and myself had the opportunity to go visit him again and check up on him. He was doing pretty well. A few days before this day, we’d gone and visited, but he wasn’t there, so we left him some food and a note.

He told us he received the food and note and that he appreciated it! This was good, because it’s obvious, he doesn’t like getting help (something I’m learning myself).

Sammie Jo got out her pen and note pad and began to ask him questions (because he’s deaf, so we have to write it down), and this continued for sometime.

The conversation went well, but something that breaks my heart is, it seems Charles gets frustrated when folks reach out to him, for several reasons. I believe he’s been burnt in the past, the language thing gets him flustered at times, and I’m not always positive Charles wants a better life…

Nonetheless, we do what we can to serve and do as the Lord leads…

Currently, we are trying to figure out the best way to minister to him, but haven’t quite figured it out. I am learning though, more than food or material blessings, what matter most are relationships. That seems to be something Charles doesn’t have in his life… He’s desperate for it, whether he admits it or not, and as Christians (espeically in America) we don't realize that's what it's all REALLY about (realtionships).

So for now, we build the relationship. We pour into him, we love on him, and we allow God to do the rest. As we do this, we pray his heart would opened to us, but more importantly that it would be softened to the Gospel.

Will you pray for Charles and pray that God would open his ears (literally open Charles’ ears) and also his heart? That would be incredible! He needs to know he’s a child of God, because that would change his life forever.

I know this may not seem like a huge update, but lets rejoice in the fact that God is moving! Even in the small things… And sometimes, that’s what matters most.

Doors are being opened…

Love yall.
