I just finished watching “True Grit” and absolutely loved that movie! Its one of my new top favorites. I loved it so much that I had to figure out someway of including it in my next blog entry so I figured I would use my favorite line from the movie as my title (shout out to Brian Southard).
So… A little update on whats going on in the big country of Mozambique, 8 days out from Christmas.
As I mentioned in my earlier blog, we are currently working in Macia and Incaha with Operation Mobilization. Over the past week we have done a couple of home visits for sick folks, prayed over them, helped run a Saturday discipleship training for 35 church members from the village, and just spent a lot of time with our contact and his family. They do not have any funding coming in currently, so we are the first team they have had in some time… I didn’t understand that at first, but after today, it all makes perfect sense… Keep reading.
If I am just being honest, the past week has been nothing but questions, uncertainties, and a lot of downtime… Hints my title… Its not all been bad though. Since we just went thru team changes it was a good chance for our team to really spend time together and hang out. We made some Christmas decorations, watched a hand full of Christmas classics (Christmas Story, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, How the Grench Stole Christmas, Elf, etc) and got to know each other a lot more. We even decorated a tree outside of our tents and made some ornaments out of bottle caps to hang on it. Haha, World Race Christmas style!
Late last night we got a phone call from our squad leaders who are currently based in Maputo (the capital) which is about a 4 hour bus ride away. Immediately when I answered the phone, I knew something was fishy when they laughed on the other end of the line. Come to find out, Operation Mobilization had spoken with World Race and discovered that there was actually 2 Antonio’s that work for OM… We were not placed in the right location from the get-go. DING! It all just came full circle for our team. We thought it was odd that they put us in a location and we didn’t have anything to do, nor does this site normally host teams. It didn’t come as a huge surprise though since World Race tells you at training camp to drop ALL of you expectations and be ready for anything!
So… needless to say, tomorrow we will board a bus back to Maputo and travel to Matola to work in a ministry for the remainder of our time in Mozambique! This will be great also because we will be working with 2 other teams and will get to spend Christmas together as a group! And hopefully… “They’ll have somethin’ for us to do, son.”
Thats the latest from the life of Dusty Dills. Other than that. Its hard to believe its month 4 already. Seems like yesterday I left home, but then other times I feels like an eternity ago. Right now, we all really need prayer. Being on the field can be tough around the holidays. I think we all miss home A LOT. I know I do. I would give my big toe for some of my Nanny’s Buck-Eye Peanut Butter Balls right now. Just keep us in your prayers please. My prayer is that we will all take a step back this Christmas season and look around at all we have been blessed with! Remember the reason for the season.
One last thing. My friend Michelle Lasko that is on the same team as me, is currently being pulled from ministry until she can gather more support. She will not be able to come back until she gets enough money in her account. Please consider helping to meet her goal. She is an amazing woman of God and has so much to give! You can check out her blog at

Love y’all.
