Can not believe the time has finally come to create my first blog post! If you are reading this now maybe you stumbled across my link on facebook, twitter or through the WR blog page but let me tell you that it is no coincidence that you are here and for that I am truly grateful! I hope to be able to share in this experience with you over the next year and a half as I begin to raise support for and then head off on the World Race this coming July. (so go ahead and bookmark this blog address cuz we are in for an adventure!)
What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11 month journey through Adventure in Mission that will take me to 11 different countries where I, along with my team of about 60 to 80 people will carry out the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 wherre Jesus says “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Our objective is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the nations while partnering with churches and serving the missionaries already rooted in these 11 countries. From July 2014 to May 2015 I will be living out of one 60 Liter backpack and living in community 24/7 with other World Race Missionaries. I expect that not seeing my family and friends for a year will be extremely tough, the conditions I will be living in will be uncomfortable and most of the materials I posses will be sold to raise support and left behind but these “sacrifices” PALE in comparison to the sacrifice that God made for us by sending his son to earth as atonement for our sins. SO I GO. I go because I have been called, and if you’ve ever heard of a little story about Jonah and the Whale…you know what happens when you say “no” after God has called you haha
I feel I have been called for many reasons (if you would like to discuss further please email or call me and I would love to talk more about them all) but one in particular is because God has opened up a season in my life where I have the availability to be sent. I say “sent” because thats exactly what is happening, there is no way that I could possibly be able to go on this journey without you all! Your support prayerfully and financially is what will make this happen and I am so excited to be able to serve overseas as an extension of those of you who are in a current season of life which makes actually traveling to the nations difficult…whether you are already serving in the area to which God has called you or you are supporting a young family or are in a season of waiting etc. So here is my plea with you, we can carry out the Great Commission TOGETHER. 3 John 5-6 says “Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God” and so I say that I have complete confidence that God will provide for me in sending me out through you and I am humbled to know that through him all things are possible!
In total, I will need to raise $16, 285 to cover all of my expenses on the field excluding personal spending money. This money will go to pay for dozens of flights around 3 continents, hundreds of bus/train rides, admin expenses through Adventures in Mission, training supplies and food for the entire year.
