What a place, I’m tellin’ ya.
If I didn’t know what I was missing back at home (family, friends, snow, unlimited access to the fam’s pantry and washing machine), I really think I could stay here. Yeah, like forever.
Here in this bustling, small surf town, life is simple. Either you live here long term or you are on holiday–with the exception of the elusive missionary, of course. The majority of the population is well versed on the ins and outs of surfing or they are at least making an effort to learn.
The days are sunny and warm with an ocean breeze tousling your hair wherever you wander and nights are cool and serene behind the safety of the driveway gate. The ocean water is as salty as ever and not quite freezing cold, but cold enough to refresh you on the hottest days and give you long-term goosebumps on the chilly days.
Sand manages to find it’s way into every orifice, every nook, every cranny of everything you have even if you haven’t had a beach day in weeks. Trees and plants of all sorts are vibrant green and thriving with flowers blooming, leaves stretched out and soaking in as many glimmering rays as they can before night falls.
Houses lining the outskirts of town huddle together without the space of a breath between. As the household income increases, so does the wiggle room and luxury.Yet the uniqueness of each home continues to baffle me, small or large, jagged aluminum assembly or elegantly constructed edifice.
Jeffery’s Bay is now a home to me. So without further ado, immerse yourself in the beauty!

I can’t upload any more pictures to this blog for some odd reason, but if you’d like to see more of this beautiful place we’ve lived in for the past three months, check out the photos on my Facebook in the album South Africa WRGY 2015/2016!
