Stepping onto the campus of Adventures in Missions in Gainsville, Georgia, I had no expectations of what training camp had in store for me. It is easy to say now, that the 10 days at training camp changed my life.
Who would have thought that 41 complete strangers would now be called family!?
From worship to team breakouts every activity seemed to give me a new view to my own character and how I perceive others.
One thing I personally struggled with before training camp was always looking forward to the next part of my life and never really basking in the moment.
Being able to open up to individuals that have the same values, goals, and aspirations that i have, helped me lift a huge weight that i had on my heart. Fully embracing God’s plan for my life made me feel completely ready and at peace with the decision to leave the states.
Our first travel day was an exciting one to say the least…
I was given a role at training camp to be the entire squads logistical leader/coordinator. Myself and one other squad member (Caleb) were/are in charge of getting all members of X Squad from point A to point B. Given that our first country we travel to is Serbia, it is our job to get everyone from Atlanta to Miami to Lisbon, Portugal to Budapest, Hungary to Novi Sad, Serbia… What??? Just last week I had my Mom check into my flight for me.
Caleb and I developed a plan and everything went according to plan! Leaving on Monday the 7th, at 2:20am, my individual team (Team Atlas) was the last to arrive to our ministry host location, in Cacak, Serbia at 4:45pm on Wednesday the 9th. Wait what?!? More than two full days? Yep. The jet lag is reallll. With three plane rides, multiple layovers, a six hour time change, and two long bus rides, we are finally here! This month is already shaping out to be an incredible adventure!
Our ministry for this first month will actually be in Mrcajevci, Serbia at a beautiful camp. About 30 minutes away from Cacak. I can’t way to see what God has in store for team Atlas here and we will be keeping everyone updated as we walk out God’s plan!
