Who doesn't like this song? Honestly. Can you beat Rascal Flatts? Probably not.
Now let me ask you another question…
Do you ever feel like God paves a highway in your life? Do you feel like God is laying down the road for you to prepare the way into what you're destined to do?
Today was the day I started getting gear together for the big trip. REI was having a blowout sale I could not miss. While I was laying on the ground testing sleeping bags, pitching tents in the store, and having an assistant following me around telling me about the wonderful membership benefits I can get, I started thinking about how God had blessed me and prepared me for this part of the trip.
During my last few months of school, I have stumbled across some of the most bizarre opportunities to help get me ready for this trip. Shortly after I first came across the race, I had received an interesting call. While I was at work, my mom had left me a message telling me she had stumbled across a camping backpack at a yard-sale. That's pretty cool right? It gets better. I asked her how much it was and they were selling it for $60! I tell her to quickly buy it and I would pay her back as soon as I got off work. I come home later that evening and the backpack fits perfectly! It was such an incredible blessing, but in the months to come, God went even further with his grace in helping me get ready for this journey.
After applying for the race and waiting to hear if I was accepted or not, something even bigger happened than before. A gentlemen gave me a $500 gift card as a thank you for doing work for him. This was enough to cover the gear needed to go on my trip and I still was able to have some extra in purchasing a few small miscellaneous things.
The last blessing was different. There was more significance in it. A gift that gave me the ability to say, "This is it. I can go to training camp".
While at church this morning, I had the chance to speak in my parents' Sunday school class. I was very thankful they had allowed me to come speak to them as they were all very supportive in the difference I was trying to make and they were open to hear what I had to say. After giving my testimony and telling them about my upcoming mission, they gathered around me and prayed over me. The love and compassion filled the room and I could feel God really opening the hearts of everyone as they stood around me. Once the last amen was said, a lady went to the front and began to talk. She had experience working with missionaries and she made a statement that she knew a girl who once did the World Race (small world). She looked at me with caring eyes and told me she wanted to give me something she keeps in her wallet just for missionary purposes. She gave me $50. $50 that brings me closer to my goal. The exact $50 to have me meet my first deadline to help me get to training camp!
This blog is not intended to come off as bragging or saying look what I got, but it's to show how God absolutely lays out a plan for us and puts things in place to reach His will on the highway's horizon.
To this point I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for helping support me and giving me encouragement. I could not have done this alone without the support from friends and family.
