We often write these blogs as a sort of “call to prayer,” asking you to join us as we lift up certain needs and requests before our God. Thank you for supporting us and being a part of our ministry in that way. In the same spirit, however, we want to invite you to join us in sharing in our celebrations as well, in giving praise to God for His many answers to prayer. It is with great thanksgiving that I now share that as of last week, we are officially FULLY FUNDED for this trip! Not a bad Christmas gift, right?! THANK YOU to all of you who helped out financially and/or by diligently praying that God would supply this need!
From the beginning, God assured us that He had called us to this mission and that He would be faithful to provide the means. This was not always easy for us to believe. $32,000 is no small chunk of change. We were expecting that part of God’s provision would come out of the savings that He had blessed us with from years past. If I’m being completely honest, I must admit that this way of thinking displayed a lack of faith on our part. In our distrust, we created a sort of loophole to allow God to save face should the funds not come in (cue the laughter…..as if He needs our help and protection).
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking on all of this and the truth is, I don’t believe God spared us our “nest egg” simply as a financial blessing for our lives. No, I believe He left it alone and amazingly provided the whole $32,000 in less than 12 months’ time in order to grow our faith and show us that He is able. I’m certain the growth in our faith is of far greater value than any dollar amount ever could be anyway.
It brings new meaning and depth to the Ephesians 3:20. “[He] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” The scripture goes on to declare, “To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
