As little girls, you would find my sister and I on the first of May making cones out of paper plates and filling them with flowers from the garden and field.  With hearts pounding, we’d sneak over to the neighbors’ houses, hang a basket on the door handle, ring the bell and RUN!!!

This May 1st, some 20-odd-years since my last May Day adventure, my heart quickened for a different reason.  In addition to May’s usual festivities (between our families, Chris and I celebrate 7 birthdays and, of course, Mother’s Day!), this year it is especially significant.  This year, May means that we actually are going.

We are quitting our jobs, saying goodbye to loved ones and leaving our comforts behind.

The first of many goodbyes hit home when a friend threw a party for Chris, commemorating his years of service in children’s ministry at church.  Over the last 7 years, Chris has shared the gospel with hundreds, maybe thousands, of children.  Many parents and fellow volunteers shared stories of his humility, gift of games and ability to put people at ease.  It was definitely a proud wife moment…I love that man’s heart! 🙂

This glimpse of how God has used Chris in children’s ministry makes me so excited to see how God uses him to further spread the Gospel in this next adventure!
