Two blogs in one day???? Is this even Catie typing?! Yes yes it is.
One of our ministries here is working at a home for kids with special needs. They live here, learn here and play here.
God says LOVE MY CHILDREN.
One of my challenges while being a christian has been loving people the way Jesus loves people. Something about imperfect love (human love) scares me because if you let someone love you, you are opening yourself up to so much hurt. This is something that I’ve said to God many times, “If I let them love me, they can hurt me, if I love them, I might hurt them”. This is not truth that comes from the Bible. This is something the enemy wants me to believe because he knows the power of God’s love. God has a pretty neat response when I come to him with my struggles. “My love is perfect, give them my love”.
These next two months God will be teaching me about loving his children. He shows me how much he loves them and sets an example for the way I am supposed to love. I love them because God loves them.
The past two days I have had the privilege to feed, dance, and joke with a young man name Julio. Julio suffers from Cerebral Palsy. He does not have the ability to speak, walk, or even feed himself. Julio has the ability to love. He loves the kids around him and he loves me. He loves me even when I spill his food on him or when I can’t speak perfect Spanish.
When God told me to “love his children”. I was filled with fear. When he showed me who I was going to love, I was filled with joy.
Loving isn’t easy because to truly love someone, you have to die to yourself. When I choose to take up my cross, and love Julio I experience more joy and life than I have ever experienced in my life.
Love his children
