So, ministry this month has been so much fun.

I’ll list the highlights..
1. We painted banners, 11 or 12, for walking with in the peace march.
2. We walked twenty blocks with a few churches down main streets and hung out with everyone at a big after party where we sang two songs. (They didn’t hear us the second time… haha. It would have been embarrassing except everyone was in their own element of worship!) They had this prayer time where everyone- young and old- got on their knees to pray for their city. This was so beautiful to behold…
3. We have performed skits in front of youth groups and sang songs for the church we partnered with. I was glad to have the opportunity to share a Josh Garrel song, Farther Along, with the congregation- guitar and all. That was definitely a highlight.
4. We have been teaching English in a school for highschool and middle school students. We are able to freely talk about Jesus in the classroom and share what it is that we are doing this year. We mainly go over greetings and conversational sentences, numbers, and parts of the body. This week we started using Daniel and the Lions Den as a short story/ skit to help the students with pronunciation. We have a lot of fun with the freedom the teachers have given us… like.. most of the time the teacher isn’t there.

For fun during our off hours we have…
1. Hiked up a beautiful mountain to a cross at the tip top.
2. Seen Incan ruins at Ketosh.
3. Tried maracuya ice cream!! (Passion fruit) so….sooooo good. My new favorite fruit. And ice cream.
4. Of course.. laundry, cooking and cleaning. This isn’t exactly fun but we do it daily! Nearly, anyway. Well.. not for laundry.
5. Tried a main dish of peru- Ceviche. It is raw fish “cooked ” in acid- lemon /lime juice. Not a great meal to eat a ton of… good as a side though. Nice flavor, slimy texture.
6. Our team times are full of great questions and laughter. We try to have one team time every day, but they don’t always happen because we get pooped from ministry. At which point, we sometimes watch a movie.

Now we are at debriefing, and I’m hammocking in a large park in Quito, Ecuador- a music man playing the saxophone dreamily just a few yards to my right. Friends, take the time to rest when afforded the opportunity. Sometimes in life, we must press through the days and nights in perseverence- but sometimes you have a few hours to spare. I’m enjoying the leisure of sitting with God, as I am, not working through or out of anything. This is rest. Go get some.
