Beautiful. So.Many.Kids.
I live so that my actions and motives are unpredictable.
So when people got excited because Africa was part of the three countries I was visiting I figured I wasn't going to fall in love like everyone else. Everyone loves Africa. Everyone loves those little black chubby babies. Everyone loves those African smiles.
So guess what happened.
I tripped hard into some beautiful African love and then some.
My team and I spent the first week teaching at the school next door. Our contact Peter (aka best African contact) started the school out of his own pocket to keep the local children off the streets. Instead of learning how to steal they would be learning English, Math, etc and about Jesus of course =] Let me just say, I went to school to study textiles and design. Not to teach. Especially to teach every subject I ever bombed.
But guess what happened? I fell in love with teaching. Who would have thunk it?
The worst first grade ever. That I loved so freakin hard.
Outside of teaching we spent what felt like every free minute doing door to door. Before launching in July, I remember reading over the different types of ministry that teams would do. And door to door sounded like extreme torture.
But guess what? I am obsessed.
Kenya is so good.
Door to door…or should I say hut to hut.
