We always say that work on the Race can look A LOT of different ways.
Something we’ve put a focus on this month is really building relationships. It’s awesome to see hearts open up as you get to know people. Stories never look the same for two people, and they help you understand the culture from a local’s perspective.
Along with stories, some amazing trips can come with building relationships!
We’re only two and a half months in, but I’ve already learned one of the most important lessons: always see an area from a local person’s point of view. In India we experienced freedom in food choices with a local; in Nepal we reached Australian Camp because we befriended a taxi driver; and in Vietnam I was able to look down at Da Nang from Hai Van Pass with someone I had known for 20 minutes prior.

This point overlooks so much greenery and ocean, which is why it was a main focus point during the war. There are still remnants of forts and bunkers with the best vantage point for miles. This was such a special trip to take, and again, it only happened because I said yes to pursuing this relationship.
But… want to know something else really cool? See that beach down below without a building or person in sight? My team was able to camp on that beach for our off day because of ANOTHER relationship that was built here.
My previous idea of Vietnam has been turned upside down. And you can know that there is some incredible work being done in this country.
