I am so glad you are here! 🙂
I am going on the World Race! I am excited, but scared. I have never been on a missions trip and the closest thing I have done to traveling out of the country is going to Mexico and camping for a week. The lifestyle, the backpacking, the lack of normal conveniences, and basically everything else about this trip is the opposite of what I am used to and what I know. But that is the exciting part! When I mentioned the trip to people around me, all of them said they would never expect me to do something like this. They would look concerned and say, "Are you sure Britt, you really think you can handle this?" While questions and doubts like this hindered me from accepting God's call momentarily, His will always prevails!
So here I am, preparing for this crazy adventure. How do you even prepare for something like this? I have no idea. All I know is I am obeying Him and as scary as it all is, I have peace knowing He is drawing me to a deeper place with Him and to people that He loves deeply.
One of my faves, Oswald Chambers, said this in "My Utmost for His Highest" on June 8,
If you do not cut the moorings, God will have to break them by a storm and send you out. Launch all on God, go out on the great swelling tide of His purpose, and you will get your eyes open. If you believe in Jesus, you are not to spend all your time in the smooth waters just inside the harbour, full of delight, but always moored; you have to get out through the harbour bar into the great deeps of God and begin to know for yourself, begin to have spiritual discernment…It is easier to sacrifice yourself than to fulfill your spiritual destiny, which is stated in Romans.
Romans xii 1-2: The Message
"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
"Beware of harking back to what you were ONCE when God wants you to be something you have NEVER been."
Those words helped me decide to commit and obey. So here I am!
Now, in order to go on this trip, I need $15,500 and lots and lots of prayer 🙂
My first deadline is $3,500 by October 2!!!
