This past 2 weeks has been chalk full of events for us. Here is a recap:
-
We got to see my Madre! Parent vision trip was last week and about half of our squad had at least 1 parent visit us in Honduras. We had 3 ministry days with my Mom and an off day (which was awesome). It was also a great time to catch up. I left feeling very encouraged and supported by Diane MacIver. Thank you so much for coming to PVT Mom! Dad, it would have been great to see you too but I’m glad you didn’t have to worry about your back/neck here.
Also, Mom – you rocked that waterfall that we went behind on Friday! I was pretty surprised you were not more scared to be honest.
-
The airline lost my bag! I still have my carry on but my big 45 pounder is still MIA as of May 2. Thankfully, I was blessed by a lot of the dads at PVT with Shirts, Shorts, and even Shoes. Thank you to all you Dad’s who offered up your things.

Marin and I are back together after a month apart and all of the sudden its like, “dang, we have less than 80 days until we’re back in the USA”. With that, we’ve been thinking about our future a lot more and what that will look like.
-
We’re in Central America! Espanol Espanol Espanol, I have spanish coming out of my nostrils and am doing my best to keep up. Marin has been rocking it as a translator and communicator.
-
En Fuego! Choluteca, the town we are in, is great but it is HOT! The low every night is 75 and it gets into the 100s in the day. Our team is actually adjusting much better than we suspected but its strange to drink 5 liters of water in a day and pee twice.
- Marin and I (and everyone) have a new team! It is common for the World Race to mix up the teams and after 8 months we get the opportunity. Our new team is called “Lets be honest”. Marin is the treasurer and I’m the team leader (which doesn’t mean much other than we have a few extra ways in which we can serve our squad). The other members of our team are:
- Chase Bonning – Chase is from Texas, is great at fixing things, and has amazing hair.
- Justin Kennedy – Justin is from Illinois, is great at guitar and drums, and has amazing hair.
- Caitlin Strecker – Caitlin is from Kansas, is great at ballet dancing, and has amazing hair.
- Becky Houston – Becky is from Michigan, is great at card games (and snorting while she laughs), and has amazing hair.
This month we are working with a church called “Great Commision Church”. It is a larger church with about 500 members. Specifically, we are working with their 2 largest ministries to children. The first is essentially an orphanage that currently has 13 wonderful children. The majority have had abusive families or parents that have died from HIV/AIDs. The 2nd is a before school/after school program that works with children that don’t have adequate nutrition (and feeds them), children that have mental disabilities, or children that just need extra help. I’ll likely be doing another blog post that gives more detail but that is the jist of it.
