It’s so hard to know what to write about in a blog. Every day is a little different and no two nights in the bars are the same. I thought I would share a little about some of the prostitutes and lady boys I have met in the bars.
*************************************************************************************************************************

*Sarah is a lady boy. The first night Jen and I met Sarah, we asked if she would play pool with us. She asked us to buy her a drink, since we had to “buy” her time with us. Since we are not the world’s best pool players, the game took so long they finally kicked us off the pool table to let others play! This turned out to be a blessing, because we were able to talk to Sarah for a little while, finding out she has one brother, a mother who lives several hours away, and a father who passed away a couple years ago. Her family approves of her being a lady boy and, while she doesn’t like her job, she doesn’t seem to have any interest in getting out of it. Sarah is friendly to us anytime we go to the bar and seems to enjoy our company, though if a customer comes in, she quickly gets up to “serve” them.

*Emily works as a lady boy at the same bar as Sarah. While we were able to spend some time with Emily our first night there, she hasn’t been as friendly since and we haven’t had many chances to talk to her. When the boss is around, Emily tends to completely ignore us. On nights that we are blessed by the boss not being there, she is more friendly.

*Jenny and *Olivia are young, Jenny being only 16 years old. They both work at the same bar and are relatively new to the bar scene, Olivia having only worked there two nights when we first met her! Both of these young girls are beautiful and still seemed quite innocent. Jenny knows limited English and Olivia knows none at all. While we weren’t able to talk to these girls, we played a couple games of Jenga with them. It was refreshing to see their quiet, sweet smiles, the look of innocence and life in their eyes. While I haven’t seen Olivia since that night, I was able to see Jenny a week later. That week made such a difference…. The life was gone from her eyes, innocence stolen.

These women and lady boys are so lost, but yet we have so much HOPE!
Hope in our God who redeems.
Hope in the One who sent His Son to die for them.
Hope in our loving Father who desires that none should perish.
Hope in the Great Physician who heals brokenness.
Hope in El-roi, our God who sees the hurt.
Hope that one day, these girls will know Jesus Christ, who is reaching out to them, loving them, longing for them.
