“What will this do for me?”

“Will this bring the Holy Spirit closer to me?”

“Will this give me power?”

“Will this help me to be good?”

These are all questions asked as people bought Threads of Hope bracelets today. I was shocked when I heard them. I was still shocked when I told my parents about the conversations. I am still shocked. And appalled. And sad. All because these people are so lost. They don’t know the truth, but they are obviously searching. They know there is something more to life than what they have found. They know they need something, but they’re not sure how to find it. These people live in my town, my community, maybe even in my neighborhood. And tonight, my heart is broken for them.

My conversations with them were relatively brief and I find myself wishing I had talked with them more, learned their names, and prayed with them. Missed opportunities. They seem to be everywhere, every day. I can’t go back and change anything about the conversation, so instead I will pray.

God, I know you love each of these men and women. They are searching. They need You to fill that void in their lives. Send someone who can share with them the way to You. May even the few words I shared plant a seed, a desire in them to know You. Thank You for loving them and thank You that You will seek them. Bring truth to them. Thank You, God, for Your goodness and Your love!

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”~ Luke 19:10
