God knows exactly what you need, when you need it and he provides it!

How true is that statement?

In my life right now it is 100% true.

I arrived in Vietnam at the beginning of the March, still slightly apprehensive about being the only Brit on the squad. I had talked this through with my team and even found some deep routed causes that revolved more around friendship, realising the devil was using by manipulating the fact that I was the only one from Britain. That aside there is still no getting around the fact that sometimes it will be lonely being the only one.

But God knew that at this stage of my race a fellow Brit was just what I needed and he provided it. After a 28 hour bus ride from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang we were met at the bus station by our contact Ha and her husband Ash, who happens to be from Plymouth, England.

It doesn’t stop there though, we are working with an international education organisation in Da Nang. This month ministry looks like going to English Corner, a chance for students to come along and speak to native English speakers in order to improve their speaking and pronunciation as well as helping out in English classes. On our first day the director of the company asked if anyone on the team had copy writing or journalism experience. When I mentioned I did and my last job involved me managing a website, he told me that they were redoing their website and needed someone to edit the content for it. He asked me if I would be happy to step back from teaching and instead look at their copy for their website, I immediately said yes – this was something natural for me because it was very similar to my job pre-race. They had been praying about having someone with copy writing ability for some time because the website relaunch had already been delayed by 18 months. God placed me here and provided an opportunity for me to really use my skills to bless this organisation, but he also blessed me by placing me somewhere there was someone else from Britain that I could relate to.

This month I have drunk a lot of English Breakfast tea, eaten many jam sandwiches, had conversations about England, and joked about British humour and sarcasm. I have heard the British accent at least once a day, had real rugby banter with a Scottish rugby fan and listened to cockney slang.

Not only that but I have also had the opportunity to use my skills in order to bless the organisation we are working with and in doing so have fallen back in love with writing, something I had become slightly disheartened about.

God has built me up, he has shown me that he is walking beside me, that I am not alone.
God has taught me that he provides what I need, when I need it.
God has proved himself to me over and over again on this race.

I love growing in intimacy in him.

God is romancing with me in a way he never has done before and I am learning to lean on him and trust him with my life.

Whoever belongs to God hears what God says
