We are deep in China somewhere after a very very long trip.  The trip to Hong Kong was long, but then add a 36 hr train ride, some taxi rides, and a bus ride, and you’ll be about where we are… in the middle of nowhere!  It’s snowing here and I’m concerned about my feet falling off, but for the most part, this has been an incredible journey.   For the Americans, this is the first big culture shock.  It’s crazy to imagine that it wasn’t so long ago I was still in Gautemala.

First of all, I love Hong Kong.  It’s a really neat city.  Where else can you go and see corporations competing for the tallest and coolest building designs, and then compete to see who can put the coolest lights on their building?  We watched the nightly light show in Hong Kong, and walked around town on Saturday.  It was fun.  We went to a museum and rode the tram to the top of the peak behind Hong Kong.  It was a full day with lots of fun pictures.  Unfortunately I can’t get the computer to read my camera without the software so it will have to wait.

On Wednesday we hoped on that long train ride.  It was my very first train ride that wasn’t at the Bluefield City Park.  We had hard sleepers, meaning we were in bunks three high and crammed into one car.  It was a little tight, but we made do.  There was a lot of spades action on that train.  Cards of every suit were flying left and right.  Most of the people slept and read books.

Today we arrived at our destination and we are getting settled into a hotel and getting briefed on the rest of this journey.  It might just be a little interesting.  Pray for us as we are batttling coughs and running noses.  It’s cold here and it’s going to get colder.  That’s the non-fun part…. but hey… at least I’m cold in China this year and not at Walmart in Bluefield, WV.
