When the waves come crashing in

I am sitting on the rocks overlooking the ocean and the sun is shinning down on me and I can not do anything but Praise God! Life as I know it is changing and I am so excited to be in a season of change!  I no longer have the comfort of my bed, tv, internet, home, friends, family, and daily life! I am learning to depend on God in all areas of my life. A little more than a week has gone by and God has changed me in so many ways and I can only imagine what this year will have in store for me! What are you leaning on today? What is holding you back from truly relying on God in ALL you do? I didn’t realize how much I leaned on other people or materialist things in my life until it was all taken from me! I am not saying you should take everything out of your life but I am saying look around you and see what you are depending on.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I know that I have been very guilty of only leaning on God when I’m weak and can not control the situation! Things in life will come against us and we will seem like we can not make it another day but the verses above tell us that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. Our limitations will teach us to depend on God and not our own strengths. We should find hope and encouragement in knowing He is there when we are weak. When we turn to God during these times it will help build us in our faith and walk with God. When we realize we can not do it alone and we need God’s power that is when we will learn Christ is there to be our strength. This is not saying we need to be weak Christians at all but when obstacles do come against we need to find our strength in God and not in ourselves.

1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Even when the obstacles before us seem small and we think we can handle them on our own God still wants to be there and help us. He wants us to seek Him and allow him to show us the direction! In 1 Chronicles 16:11 it tells us to seek his face always. Always means continually and so that is telling us to seek HIS face continually! I encourage you to seek God in all you do! It was hard for me to do at first but then when all was taken from me that I would usually depend on then it became very easy to allow God to guide me in every step of my life. I now go to Him for things that I would have handled on my own or allowed someone else to guide me through. It has allowed me to grow in God and my faith is a lot stronger now. I am amazed at how much God has done in me in such a small amount of time but when you lean on Him and only Him its easier for God to work in us. I encourage you to seek God in all you do today. Give Him everything from the smallest obstacles to the largest and see how things turn out! He will guide you and be your strength when you are weak!
