We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip. Here is my story…
It was a Sunday Night in 2006 and I do not remember the exact date. I felt God calling me to missions. I went forward and shared with my Pastor. He announced to the church and they all prayed for me. Everyone was very supportive and encouraging but I began to run from this calling. It scared me and I was not ready is what I kept telling myself. I found every reason why this really wasn’t what God had planned for me but that would all change a few years later.
I received an email from a friend and it was asking me to check out a blog of a friend of hers that was doing missions. I went and it was Rusty Jackson’s blog and he was a world racer. I enjoyed following his blog and the more I read it the more my passion for missions started to grow. Once he returned home I stopped reading Rusty’s blog but the world race never left my heart and mind. I tried to get rid of that but I could not.
I felt that if God wanted me to do Missions he would open the door but through prayer I realized that sometimes I have to put feet on my prayers. I decided to apply for the World Race and within two weeks of sending my application in I was accepted. Each day has a new challenge but the peace in my heart the way things are falling into place would not happen if it wasn’t God’s calling on my life at this time.
