My dear friends,
You may have read in my previous blog that I will be leading a Passport trip with AIM this fall, instead of going on the World Race. Last weekend, I found out some more details! I will be co-leading a team of approximately 18 young adults to Costa Rica! I am so excited for this opportunity.
This is my official final blog for the World Race. What better way to say my farewell than to share with you all a few things the Lord has taught me over the past 8 months or so?!
1. I often act out of fear. When I first realized the Lord was calling me away from the World Race and into something different, I didn’t act. I was afraid. It wasn’t fear of change that kept me from acting though, it was fear of what people would think if my plans changed. Instead of acting in obedience, I acted in fear. I am thankful that the Lord continued to show me that He was leading me elsewhere until I had the courage to do something about it.
2. God knows me better than I know myself. I have learned a lot about myself throughout the process of applying and preparing to launch for the Race. The Lord has shown me things about myself that I didn’t realize, and He has reignited passions in me that I thought were long dwindled out. Looking back, I can see how the past 8 months were Him preparing me for this leadership position. He has brought me to a place where I am better prepared now than I was before this all started.
3. Obedience is key. I think the Lord has been testing my obedience through this process. I realized that my decision wasn’t whether or not to go on the World Race. My decision was whether or not to be obedient to His voice. I have learned, yet again, that when I lead my life in obedience, instead of leading with my emotions, that the Lord honors that. Seeing His faithfulness, I am encouraged to continue to lead my life in this way.
Logistics: Since I am no longer going on the Race, this blog will be deactivated. Fret not! I have created a new blog so that I can still keep you up to date with my trip! If you are currently subscribed to this blog, you will be automatically subscribed to the new one. (You will receive an email requesting verification from Google Feedburner. If you do not want to be subscribed, simply ignore it; if you would like to receive updates, just click the link in the email you receive.) Here is the link to the new blog: www.invademyheart.com. You can expect my first post there within the next few days.
I also have a new fundraising goal. I need to raise $2000 to be fully funded for this trip. ($1700 of this is for the trip costs such as airfare, food, lodging, local transportation, etc. The other $300 is for international health insurance for three months.) All donations that have been received so far have been transferred, so this means I am only $380 away from being fully funded! God is so good, and I know He will provide the final funds needed. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here!
I am also looking to raise a little extra support for other costs incurred such as airfare to Atlanta for the launch of my trip and returning from Atlanta when I get back in November. If you would like to donate to that specifically, you can do so via PayPal by clicking here, and entering my email [[email protected]] and the amount you would like to send.
I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support and encouragement. I am looking forward to this upcoming season of learning and growing in Costa Rica!
