I have recently been trying to do in my life is
live in a way that if God doesn’t show up, I will fail. To intentionally put
myself in positions where God has to show up because there is nothing of me
left to make it happen. To daily look more like Christ so I can come into my
true self. Andrew Shearman always says “the more you look like Christ the more
you look like yourself.”

As servants of God we must learn to make room for God – to
give God “elbow room.” We plan and figure and predict that this or
that will happen, but we forget to make room for God to come in as He chooses.
Would we be surprised if God came into our meeting or into our preaching in a
way we had never expected Him to come? Do not look for God to come in any
particular way, but do look for Him.
The way to make room for Him is to expect Him to come, but not in a certain
way. No matter how well we may know God, the great lesson to learn is that at
any minute He may break in. We tend to overlook this element of surprise, yet
God never works in any other way. Suddenly God meets our life.*

Whether I realize it or not, I often have a plan or hidden
agenda of how I think God should and is going to work. This is usually based
off my own or other people’s experiences, yet in the bible God rarely shows up
in the same way twice. Could it be that my thinking is too small? That by doing
this I am limiting the power of God and not even realizing it? What if I lived
in complete expectancy because of who He
is
and not what I want Him to do or how I want Him to do it?

Keep your life so constantly in touch with God that His
surprising power can break through at any point. Live in a certain state of
expectancy, and leave room for God to come as He decides.*

I want to throw out this challenge to anyone reading this,
especially ouR squad. At some point over the next two weeks put yourself in a
position where if God doesn’t show up, you will fail. Live in a state of
expectancy, not for something to happen in a particular way, but for it to
happen His way. When you see God breakthrough leave a comment in the section
below as a testimony to the power and grace of God.
