The last few days Tim and I had with ouR squad we took them to a hotel in Bangkok for some debriefing and R&R before Africa. It was a time of reflecting on what God did over the past four months and a chance for us to say goodbye to the people who have become our second World Race family. This was a nostalgic place for Tim and I, as it was the same place that H-Squad went to send-off our squad leader Jenny Brown before we flew to Africa.

We had a fabulous “prom themed New Years with the squad!

Thanks to Jeannie, we all got to send off lanterns in the sky (it’s a Thai tradition). It actually didn’t go as we hoped (things almost caught on fire) but we had fun!

On our last night with the squad Tim and I each had one last chance to shared our hearts with them, read our letters to them (mine can be found here), and then they shared their hearts with us. Starting with a spoken word piece by Michael Perez, they each stood up and read a verse, poem, or spoke into our lives. Then Nikki made us each book with letters and pictures from each squad member. It was an amazing end to a great four months with them. The video below is the spoken word piece Michael wrote for us. Watch it if you have a minute. He’s super talented!
Then they drove away and got on a plane to Africa…
