Launch: A time where the entire squad (about 40) come together before we leave the country to have a few days of training, fellowship, worship and prayer. The Worldrace is sending out three squads all at the same time but each squad has a different route of countries they are going to. C, D, E Squad. All of the squads consist of people all over the world and USA. We met in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Waiting for the rest of squad to get to airport in FLA.
Backpacks!!
(I was like 2 miles away and NEVER saw the ocean…Oh, goodness!) We stayed in the beautiful Bethel Romanian Baptist Church (which was great because I will be going to Romania in three months!)
We learned about this is a transition from the old to the new. Learned about Community and all the elements of community….about freedom…authenticity…got proposed with the idea that we should have faith like the disciples and believe in miracles of the bible. (Habakkuk 3:2) After all God is the same God yesterday, today and forever! So, why bring Tylenol? Why don’t we have enough faith to pray to the God Almighty for healing!? Don’t you read the bible? These stories are SUPPOSED to be normal! Learned that the love I have for orphans in Africa and the homeless in Belize/Central American should not surpass the love I have for the person next to me…or…my own family…or April or my best friends. Wow. Thanks for the whooping, God.. I know now that I am supposed to come into any environment and affect it and effect it. Learned that it is ok for others to be in different stages of progress with the Lord. Learned that I am in a progress with the Lord. We are all on different journeys to different outcomes but the goal and standard should constantly be Kingdom. Its ok that I do not have it all figured out but, I still should let life come out of me. Say yes to the day! There is so much that I learned in just two short days!
Seth Barnes, Founder of Adventures in Missions came out to send us off into the nations. Such an incredible man of God!
However, our days were short in FL! We had nations to shine to! We packed up our things Thursday evening.. Walked like a mile with all of our gear (I am DEFINETELY getting rid of weight in my bag!! It was awful! BUT!! I realized midhike…that this bag… is not NEARLY as heavy as the Cross!! I never complained again. I knew you wanted me to carry my cross into the nations.. But, I did not know you meant LITERALLY! Thank you Jesus for your mercy and love.) We hopped on a public transit bus to downtown…
Then got dropped out the train station! My first real train ride! (not subway.metro!)
From there, we rode to the airport…where we crammed into a shuttle for the entrance of airport…
Where we then sleep in the airport for the evening. I just loved knowing what time it was every 15 minutes. Ha!
We prayed Job 5: 24 “You will know that your tent is safe, because you will check the things you own and find nothing missing!” Thank you Jesus!! Thank you for your protection!
We got a little bit of sleep…woke up…and said YES!!! To the day!!
SEVEN years of praying about the Worldrace…and…it was finally here!
Thank you Jesus for your blessings!!
