Prostitution:
A reality for so many, that most people deem as a Choice.
We scoff at the idea and turn a blind eye…. it’s just so wrong.

Things aren’t what they seem.

In America, most of us are sheltered from the idea of being forced to do something so inhumane. We can’t imagine a family starving to death, so Mom sells her body. Then when that isn’t enough……. she sells her daughters bodies. How could a mother do that, we judge, I would never do that…… we say as we go to bed, with sometimes too full stomachs.
 It appears that the girls are choosing this
as they smile and call to the men.

We don’t see them being beat and tortured by their pimps to make sure that they act happy. The fear is hidden under tons of makeup and a plastered on smile.
Most of us will go our whole life without having to feel the pain of a loved one being kidnapped and forced to do things that destroy their soul. We won’t know how it feels to be a victim of a crime against humanity
Do we even know what true evil is?
Could it be that Human Trafficking isn’t the main issue here? Poverty is probably the worst form of trafficking, of bondage. It forces people to do things they would never do with a sound mind. Could it be that a crime so heinous is becoming a norm in this world……… no longer a shameful secret?

Slavery exists everywhere.
In the States, in Cambodia;
in the slums, in the high class neighborhoods.
No less than 55,000 woman and children are sex slaves in Cambodia,
35% of which are younger than 18 years of age.

Many organizations exist and are trying to infiltrate the sex trade. They come at it from all angles (prevention, rescue, aftercare, etc.). I am privilaged to be a part of one of those organizations: Adventures in Missions. We have various teams that go wherever slavery exists. One example is the girls who are dedicating two years of their lives to live in Cambodia (check it out) . They live amidst the poverty,     partnering with other organizations (such as Daughters of Cambodia), building relationships, and doing research. Five more girls are leaving on August 28th to join a group that has already been in Cambodia for a year. I am invited to come help launch them and also to do some hands on research in Cambodia. What can we be doing differently? What are more specific needs? How can we be more effective in fighting the Sex Trade in Cambodia?

I need your help.
