Dear Friends and Family,

My name is Alexandria D. Potter, and I’m a former member of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Wesley Foundation Leadership Team. I’m also a member of Brown Hill M.B. Church in Florence, MS, pastured by Rev. James A. Washington Jr. I have some really exciting news that I would like to share with you. I wish I could express through words how pumped I am about it. Here it goes I GOT ACCEPTED TO GO ON THE WORLD RACE in September 2012!! Traveling has always been something that God has put on my heart, and each year as God revealed his plan in my life, I continually hoped I could go throughout the world and spread the word of God. After finally letting go and giving God this desire, I had planned on going to Mississippi College to finish up my bachelor degree, and go on to the Physical Therapy Program. After my first year at MC,Adventures in Missions came to our school to find more people willing to give up their plans in life for God’s plan. God led me to seek out more information about the World Race and I found myself checking out their website and the routes they offered.

As I was scrolling down through the routes, my eye was caught on Route 1 in September 2012. As I started reading the countries they were going to on this route I had this overwhelming feeling that THIS IS IT, this is my chance to travel around the world. My heart pounding full of excitement and fear, I decide to apply hoping that I was going to get accepted, and I DID! I have had this urge to live off what I need and not what I want for many years, pursing a simple life, and finding my true identity in who God has created me to be rather than in how I look . As my relationship with the Lord has grown there is a verse that keeps getting brought back to me. Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.Being a part of the Leadership team at Perk really opened my eyes to see that God wants more out of me than just me going to church. He wants me to reach out to people all over the world and spread his word. Telling people from nation to nation what a loving and awesome God he is. Through the World Race my life will be transformed and this is the life that I want to live, a life where I can carry all my possessions in my backpack, giving back to others who have far less than I could imagine and living surrounded by a community with others who have the same heart and purpose as I. God has been equipping others to prepare me for the world race for many years and now I have the chance to go.

The World Race is run by Adventures in Missions (AIM), a Christian Organization that serves 11 countries in 11 months. While I am called to go on a mission with AIM, I am not called to go alone. There are 60 to 70 people who will be going on the same route as me, but we will be divided into groups around 5 to 7 people. With these groups we will love on orphans at the orphanages, feeding the homeless, visiting different schools, teaching kids English, and praying for healing while we witness many miraculous things God has planned. The main purpose is to share the love of Jesus and preach the Gospel, to be His hands and feet. I know in my heart through prayer and confirmation that God’s purpose for me is to go out and spread His love to these 11 countries India, China, Philippines, Nicaragua, Costa Rica/Panama, Honduras, Moldova, Ukraine, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Swaziland. I also know that this trip is going to bring immense healing, growth, and an overflow of love in my life to mold and renew me to reflect Jesus more and more.

I ask and pray that you will join me in this journey, first and most importantly with prayer, second if able and willing with financial support as well. To be able to complete the World Race and go to all 11 countries I will need to raise $15,500. This amount provides food, shelter, air, land, and sea travel, coaching and training camp. Additionally, funds are needed for medical insurance, vaccinations, and travel to and from training camp and my start and end points in the U.S. I know this amount is steep, but I have hope that God will provide. So I humbly request for you to come along side me and consider giving to AIM and this great mission I have before me. For this is the plan Christ has for me. If only 30 people donated $50 per month for 11 months, I would nearly have all my financial support. Any amount that you are able and willing to give will be used for His kingdom. I have listed the different methods you can use to give financially. I thank you in advance for contributing and for supporting me in this journey.

With overwhelming love and thanks God Bless,
