We spent the last couple of weeks in Bossier City, my hometown, visiting with family, preparing for the trip, etc. I was really happy with our time there, although it was really sad to say goodbye to Sherry, my niece. (Hi Sherry! I love you!!) And I realized in the car today that I won’t get a hug from my mommy for a year, and that made me sad too.
Today, we arrived in Wimberley, TX, which is about an hour northwest of Austin. We are spending the next few days here visiting with Seth’s grandparents/mom/siblings/etc before we leave on our race.
-
Go to REI
-
(begin compiling shopping list in the background of to-do list making)
-
· Go to Wal-Mart
-
· Repack and decide which pair of pants won’t make the cut (L..I like them all..)
-
· Print out sermon I wrote at training camp
-
· Watch DVD of skirt thing (silk wrap skirt, Earthbound Traders, it’s awesome, look it up. It does come with an instructional DVD, which is weird, for clothing)
-
· Mail license plate to mom in Louisiana to turn in so we don’t get fines for not having insurance
-
· Try to get personal articles insurance on our laptop
-
· Call Kenneth about his DVD’s
-
· etc etc (I know I’m missing lots of things…)
Honestly, being on the race will probably be more relaxing than the somewhat constant freak-outs. But, I will just trust that everything will get done, and all will be well.
To avoid the list making, I was browsing WR blogs, and realized this: There’s only 3 squads on the field, 2 of which are January. And June’s only been racing for 2 weeks. I don’t know why that seems odd to me. I think I can’t quite grasp the thought that I will know the people writing the blogs about healing the sick in Africa. Or that I could be the one writing about the amazing girls we met in Thailand. It seems surreal.
I think I may be sleepy now. Thanks for reading! Oh, and please remember that we are still in need of $18,400. Please consider a one-time or monthly donation.
