This world fascinates me. I’m constantly marveling at creation- constantly marveling at life. Marveling at the way the rivers cut the Earth. Marveling at the stars twinkling overhead. Marveling at the trillions of synapses connecting the human brain. Marveling at the way the mountains rise towards the heavens. Marveling at the mysteries of the ocean. Life is such a wonder.
I just heard the saying creation is God’s first missionary. Life and breath are evidence of the one true God. All the mysteries and wonders of the world make us ponder the invisible things of God. Paul talks about these invisible qualities of God. He says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Sam and I have been able to see so much of God’s creation the last four months. We have traveled by bus from the heart of Bolivia to the northern coast of Colombia. Along the way we have been deep in the jungle, crossed countless rivers, stood on the tops of numerous mountains, and gazed out into the endless horizons of the sea. God is constantly taking my breath away. Because He created it all. He is the Creator. He is the author of all the mysteries of this life. And when we return every breath we draw back to Him in praise creation’s purpose is fulfilled.
Check out some pictures of some places that took our breath away when we were in Ecuador:
FUYA FUYA NEAR OTAVALA, ECUADOR

On top of Fuya Fuya. After a late night camping with our team Sam and I decided to rise with the sun to hike one of the nearby volcanoes.

View from the top of Fuya Fuya looking down on the crater lake we camped next to.

Fishing with wasp larva.

Look at that beautiful fire… and that beautiful girl. Meet my lovely teammate Jordan.
MINDO, ECUADOR

The cable car that took us across the jungle gorge to the trailheads.

And the complete power train out of a Land Cruiser to power us across.
RUCU PICHINCHA IN QUITO, ECUADOR

We made it to the summit right before the Ecuadorian Special Forces arrived.

More than 15,000 feet… talk about taking your breath away

To keep you up to date on our whereabouts, we are currently in Colombia (10/23/14). We will be leaving the continent on November 3rd. We are excited for Asia, but have loved being immersed in so many different Latin American cultures. Another blog post coming soon on our time here in Colombia.
