I wish I was a better story teller.
Because I would invite you into the story of my life.
Almost on a weekly basis someone says to me “you should write a book.”
If you didn’t know, they are referring to the last year of our lives as we traveled to 11 countries in 11 months on The World Race.
Maybe they say that because they know I am an anxious and germaphobe person by nature and a person like me never chooses to travel thousands of miles around the globe to villages in the remotest partes of 3rd world countries.
You remember…we did that.
And now we are back in America. We don’t eat beans and rice each day. We don’t have to shower with cattle in the rivers of Cambodia…I can drink tap water.
Jamos has better access to a razor and mirror.
I don’t have to worry about contracting a dengue fever or malaria.
I have an assortment of clothes I can choose from…and shoes too!
I remember nearly 2 years ago, when I was SO scared that God may be calling Jamos and I to serve as missionaries. Immediately I said “NO!”
Fear filled me.
Quit our jobs?
Sell our stuff?
Say goodbye to friends and family for a YEAR?
What about our savings?
What about our 401K? How do we raise $31,000? What if I get sick?
The list went on and on.
But, we went. Despite the doubters. Despite the fear.
We went against what society says is normal…
Smiled and hugged those who thought we were crazy for doing what we were doing.
Sold the stuff.
Raised the funds.
Got on the plane…
And got BLESSED beyond words.
You know we were wrecked.
When I daydream now, my thoughts turn to Jacob in Swaziland. I loved that little boy.
And the little girl in the bar in Thailand. She is LOVED by the KING!
I think of the pastors and their families who serve their community’s night
and day- so that their villages and towns can know the LOVE of the LORD.
I keep trying to tell you that we are STILL missionaries.
Jamos is a missionary.
Emily is a missionary.
Jamos and I are able to use our educational backgrounds and passion within our hearts (hello, Jacob) as motivation to work each day- to expand the KINGDOM.
Our office is currently Adventures in Missions. In Gainesville, Georgia.
If there is no home base- missionaries cannot go to the field.
We are the home base. We are now on the sending side. Did you know over 250 World Racers JUST left from Chicago yesterday? Did you know that we have hundreds of World Racers around the globe. Right now?
We do.
And we really need your help. Financially, we have to raise money again. I know times are hard. I know asking for money is along the same category as pulling teeth or getting bit by a snake.
I get it.
I don’t like it either.
But, we have to be here. God called us to be missionaries in America- at Adventures in Missions. And with that- comes support raising.
I fully believe in miracles. I saw people healed- I saw demons flee from a woman’s body because of JESUS. I saw a miracle when our support account was full while we were on the race. I saw a miracle when I got on that plane to start our World Race journey- after saying goodbye to my mom. Everything in me wanted to turn around and RUN back to the safety of her arms.
Part of our life story is the fact that we got to fall in love with the people of Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America.
A bigger part of our story is the fact that it is still being written…
*Do you know anyone who may be interested in hearing our story? We would love to talk to them- to partner with them. Please send our information to them or give us their information. We are happy to share our story with anyone who will listen.
