Sorry we have not been good at blogging a lot while here in Peru. Like I said in our previous blog, we have had quite a bit of sickness happening within our team here in Chao and that makes it hard to have the energy to blog. Don´t forget to check out Angela, Nick, and Nicole´s blog for FULL COVERAGE!
Above: This is a view from our hostal! Never know what you will see here in Chao.
We want to thank our supporters so much for allowing us to have this experience, even though we have been sick, we know that God is working through us and in us in Ecuador and now Peru.

Our ministry consists of door-to-door and nightly church services. I am preaching on Saturday and Jamos is preaching on Sunday. Here is an example of what our day looks like:
8:30am leave for breakfast with a family from the church. Breakfast can range from bread to chicken soup with a huge piece of chicken with the bone still in and a hardboiled egg with the shell still on -in the soup.
10am the first group (2-3 of us plus people of the church) meets at the church to start their ministry. We go to the homes in the area inviting them to the church and if they want to know about the Lord, we tell them!
12pm stop for lunch at Olivia’s. Lunch usually is French fries, rice, chicken, and potatoes. We play with the kids and chat with the family.
2pm be at the church for the second group who has the afternoon shift. This lasts until 4pm.
5pm be ready for team time, where we do something together as a group. It is totally up to the person who has designated team time for that day and we all go along with it!
6:30pm leave for dinner- arrive at 7pm eat a smaller meal that is usually French fries and chicken.
8pm-10pm church service.
SLEEP!
The picture above is during our visit to some ruins located in Trujillo. Amazing to get the chance to see something SO old and full of interesting history!
On Monday we had a free day, so we went into Trujillo again (about a 1.5 hour bus ride) and met up with our friends that we met in Ecuador – when they were on a mission trip there. We had breakfast and then they took us to the beach. Nick taught Angela and Jamos how to surf, so that was a fun memory for them to make. We met up with our squad leader, Katie, and so she was able to be with us that day as well. The picture above is during our visit to some ruins located in Trujillo. This week a few members of our team (Jamos, Nick and Angela) decided to eat chicken feet. They sell them on a skewer, just like a Kabob! Nicole and I weren’t feeling well, so that was our excuse NOT to eat chicken feet.
Here is something interesting as well. Last Saturday, we had an ALL NIGHT church service. Well, we got there at 8pm for the youth service that lasted until 10pm, and then, from 10pm-3am we had a church service! And, in the middle of the night had that chicken soup with huge chicken pieces and noodles. We of course, have no idea what is going on or why there is an all night church service due to the pretty large language gap we have here. But, I think we finally came to the conclusion that this service is held every few months for those who work and cannot attend during the week (they have a service each night at 8pm except for Wednesdays).
One of the reasons the language is difficult this month is because they do not speak Spanish in Chao. They speak Castilian (sp?). This is a form of Spanish, but the sentence structure is quite different and makes it challenging for us!
We are doing well and again SO thankful for your support. We LOVE hearing from you via comments and email. It is our only contact with life back home, so never hesitate to contact us! We love you and are praying for you!!!
