We’ve been all over the world this year and seen all sorts of things. I’ve been face-to-face with the kind of poverty I had only seen on television. I’ve seen starving, dying, and helpless children. I’ve made friends with families that live under a bridge, ladies who have been left alone to raise 9 or 10 children, and a little boy whose disability resigned him to living on the ground.
In short, I’ve seen a lot of things this year that make me feel hopeless. I’ve been frustrated many times by the knowledge that no matter how hard I try, I truly cannot do anything tangible to help certain situations. My eyes have been opened to the truth about how the world really is.
I came on this trip this year thinking wow these are the people who need to be saved. And many of you may think the same thing – that this year I have met people who are most in need. After all the things I’ve seen and people I’ve met this year, I’m starting to disagree. I would argue that there is a different group of people who is most in need.
What if…
What if we allowed these lyrics to become our prayer
and to become truth in our lives?
We give You praise
We give You praise
And the King of all the earth
Has saved us from ourselves
We give you praise
