The joy of the Lord…
It’s everywhere here in Kenya. EVERYWERE.
It’s in the smiles of the women at the market, in the laughter of the children, and in the praises of the men.
I’ve found that the joy of the Lord is different than the joy of earth. It’s more exciting, more passionate, and it has no boundaries.
{paraphrased from Psalm 19:8}
The ways of the Lord are pure and they bring joy to peoples’ hearts! The commandments of God are clear and
they give insight for right living.
This clip is a glimpse of the joy of the Lord we get to experience every day here in Kenya. This particular day we were having worship outside in the slum market. Random people would gather here and there, some stopping to chat with us about what we were doing. When the stars of this video clip (I’m sure you’ll know who they are) showed up, they were obviously drunk. As you’ll see they stumbled up carrying huge bags of junk, they were dirty and pretty out of it. BUT I immediately saw the joy of the Lord explode in this time. God’s joy isn’t bound by earthly things, not even by earthly things in excess, not even by drunkenness. Even though these men may not have understood all the words to the song they were dancing to they DID feel the presence and the joy of the Lord in that place…and that’s why they danced.
God is so good.
