Can you belive we are leaving America in exactly 28 days?!
We can’t! For those of you (like Erin) who don’t like math, that means we are leaving the country on January 3, 2010. Wow how time flies!
So we’re leaving in less than a month…what does that mean exactly?
First of all, it means we need your prayers! We are both a little stressed/anxious that this time has finally come. We applied for The World Race almost a year ago so it’s crazy to think it’s actually time for us to do what we signed up for. We would love prayers for safe travel, a strong bond with our teammates that would not be shaken by wordly matters, comfort from homesickness, and boldness to share our faith with the people we have the opportunity to come in contact with around the world.
Next, it means we need some more money! We know what you’re thinking….Those kids have bugged me with letters, e-mails, postcards, etc. for months now! Is it REALLY possible that they don’t have enough money for this crazy trip? To answer your question – yes. It’s actually true that we don’t have our trip funded yet. We don’t even have it halfway funded. We MUST have 60% of our trip funded by the time we leave. This means we need roughly $3,000 more in the next 28 days. It’s ALOT to ask. We know. Can you imagine us being turned away now because of a lack of support from our family and friends? Now, after we’ve moved out of our house, put everything in storage, been through training camp, gotten vaccinations, bonded with our teammates, and started to say our goodbyes to people. Can you imagine us not going on The World Race now? We can’t. We believe this is what God wants us to do and we believe He is going to use you, our family and friends, to make it possible.
Finally, this means you are about to stop receiving letters and phone calls from us. Yay! BUT this means our blog site (the site you are on right now!) will be THE ONLY way we have to communicate with you back home. We will be updating it weekly with pictures, stories, and info about where we are and what we’re doing. We are very excited about the opportunity to share our trip through this blog site! We cannot ask you enough….please, please PLEASE take some time every once in a while (or very often!) to check this site to see what we’re up to. We may be asking for prayer, we may be sharing a story that will touch your life or the life of someone you know, we may be telling a story that will impact YOUR world at home.
