Below are a few things to expect as you approach Training Camp. Now don’t get me wrong: Training Camp is an enigma and rightly so. It’s almost impossible to fully explain what takes place and how you feel about it, and once done, you understand why so much was left unsaid ahead of time. With that being noted, there are a few things I can share without ruining the integrity of the experience.
11: Sleep is a beautiful, wonderful thing. Expect to kiss it goodbye for the week you’re at TC.
10: The messages are going to be about a topic that may or may not be familiar. If it is, great! You’re set and are ready to take on what’s being presented. If not, that’s fine, too. It’s ok to take a step back to process the information and to allow it to work in your heart.
9: Ignore the warnings about bad food. It’s actually quite good and will definitely leave you wanting more!
8: For those of you marrieds, you will be labeled as “the married couple.” Embrace it! It’s a unique situation and can be one of growth for everyone.
7: You are going to stink. There’s no way around it. Fortunately, everyone around you is also going to stink so it won’t matter!
6: Your squad leaders and trainers really do have a plan for the week, but they’re not going to share it with you. Just relax and enjoy letting someone else be in control!
5: Leave your expectations at home. They’re not accurate and no one can really prepare you for what you’re going to encounter.
4: The AIM staff is there to support and cheer you on, but they’re real. They’re open with what God has and is doing in their lives, and honestly want to form relationships with you and your team. It’s really very humbling.
3: You don’t need to be fake. Everyone around you is also broken and that’s celebrated. It’s exactly where God needs you to be!
2: God will reveal Himself to you if you let Him, but won’t if you say no. The experience is up to you.

1: You are going to meet the most loving and accepting group of people that you’ve likely ever encountered. Your squad is amazing, so love them and allow yourself to be loved!
