God has been teaching me so much this week about Himself and
prayer, and today was another lesson.

Last week during one of our VBS’ I sat next to a little girl
named Tracy. She is 7 years old loves sharks and her favorite color is purple.
I only know a few things about her, but she has stolen my heart. Most of our
communication involves lots of smiling, the Jesus in me coming out in such a
way that we both can’t help but smile at each other. And today God used this
little girl to teach me a very big lesson. Today being Sunday, we were walking
the kids to the park for Sunday school and Tracy quickly runs over to me and
grabs my hand and smiles up at me. As most of you know I am not a kid person, but
when Tracy came running over to me, smiling as big as she could, wanting to
hold my hand, it made my day!

First day I met Tracy

This morning when we got to the park the gates were closed
on one side so some of the kids venture to another side of the park to see if
the gates are open there, but with no adult and several little ones tagging along
I tell Cory that I am going to follow them to make sure everyone makes it
alright. I drop off Tracy with Cory and where everyone else in the group is
waiting and proceed to follow after the kids. I almost get to the gate when I
hear little footsteps pounding the pavement, I look behind me and there is Tracy
running after me! We walk inside and she does everything she can to stay by my
side, she sits by me, stands first in line next to me, and holds my hand in “Duck,
Duck, Goose”, literally at every moment she wants to be next to me, touching
me, sitting with me.

Once Sunday school is done we have to walk the kids back and
of course Tracy is by my side. I look down at her and realize she is
concentrating really hard on my footsteps. I think about this a minute and then
realize she is trying to mimic my steps. So then I got to thinking, I want to
be someone that people will want to mimic, that they look to my life as a model
of living for Christ, as a model for loving His people. Paul told so many of
his followers to mimic what he was doing, and his life was worthy of being mimicked,
I want that! God also showed me that I should want to be like Tracy, to follow
after Him the same way she wanted to follow after me. As soon as I moved she
moved, when I sat down she sat down, when I started walking one direction she
came running after me. I am definitely not that in tune with God’s Spirit to
follow after Him the way Tracy followed me, but I can be and I eagerly desire
to have that childlike faith of absolute trust and submission, to have my heart
become one with Christ’s.

I am challenged daily by the children I am around, who
absolutely trust their parents, trust us, trust God, and so I challenge you – how
can your faith be changed to mimic the steps of God, to move when He moves, to
run after Him with all you have in you?
