Hey Everyone! Welcome to Jessie and Cory’s “About” Blog Post.

Jessie (or Jess but please NO Jessica I am not that fancy):

Most people think that I am about 17 years old BUT I am actually 24, I’m just really short and have aged really well! πŸ™‚ I graduated from Kennesaw State University in May of 2010 with a degree in History. (I know REALLY useful) I am now working as a professional organizer and I love it. I mainly love it because I get paid doing what I would normally do to relax! I feel like most of my friends know me as the party planner, hence my being a professional organizer, and since I love people and organization this role suits me perfectly!

If there were three things people should now about me it is that 1.) I love people; 2a.) I love animals; 2b.) I love being outside! 3.) I love to laugh more than anything!! I think that one way to tell what type of person someone is comes from knowing their top 5 movie list. So to help along the process my top 5 are: Pride and Prejudice (the new one), Braveheart, Now and Then, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, and Penelope. I also have been known to have entire conversations with my best friend using FRIENDS quotes; I know, we’re pretty cool. She was even able to work them into her toast at my wedding!! πŸ™‚

In my family I am the oldest of 3, my sister Katie is 23 and my brother Cal is 21. In the past 2 years or so God has been growing our relationships from siblings to friends which has been really awesome to see happen. I also like to think that I am the best of both worlds of my parents, I’m sure they would agree with me πŸ™‚ Mom is Trivia-Queen, hilarious, doesn’t take herself too seriously, and very compassionate, while Dad is a great leader, loyal, organized, and a go-getter. Yeah I know, my parents are pretty awesome.

So far I think that my favorite things about God are His Perfection and His Beauty. My favorite books of the Bible are Genesis, Isaiah, Ephesians, and Revelation, but of course all of them are good. Recently God has given me this huge craving for experiencing His Beauty, whether that be through languages, people, or the outdoors I can’t seem to get enough of it these days. Which is why I am SUPER excited to go on this trip and experience more of God’s beautiful Creation!!

Cory (unfortunately no cool nicknames):

Like Jessie, people often confuse me as a high schooler. I am average height, but my inability to grow facial hair or gain weight leaves people stunned when I tell them I am 23. I graduated from Georgia Tech in December 2010 with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. It sounds much fancier than it is. Just think of it as Advanced Management. While at Tech, I became a member of Theta Xi Fraternity which my chapter is a Christian chapter. I would have to say that it has been the biggest instrument for spiritual growth, so far, that God has used in my life. The brothers there poured the love of Christ into my life daily. They also introduced me to Campus Crusade for Christ, an organization that has also been used by God in amazing ways (more about that further down).

I was born in Colorado Springs, CO. When I was six, my family moved to Columbus, Georgia. Most of my free time was spent playing soccer, reading books, hanging out with friends, and trying to be as cool as my older brother, Jeff. I loved school and was one of those nerdy kids that was friends with all of the teachers. During high school, I wrestled my first year, ran cross country my second and third year, and played soccer all four years. I love to be outside, usually running around outside if you can’t tell. But more than being outside I love spending one on one time with my close friends and getting into meaningful conversations.

My family is amazing. My parents have been married for over 30 years and are a great example of God’s faithfulness. They have always been extremely supportive of all of my endeavors and have been there for guidance and advice. My brother, Jeff, and I have a great relationship, however, we look nothing alike. He is twice my size and nothing but muscle.

Jessie and Cory:

As you can read above, Jessie likes younger men. πŸ™‚ We met on a mission trip to Bosnia with Campus Crusade for Christ in the summer of 2007. It was obviously love at first sight for Cory, but it took a few more glances for Jessie. After spending 7 weeks together, we decided to give this a try when we got back in the States. For our first date he met my whole family at my cousins wedding. (A little intimidating if you ask me, but he stayed anyways) We ended up going back to Bosnia again in 2008 and while we were there God continued to grow our hearts together for international missions. We got married the next summer in June of 2009 while still in school, maybe not the best idea looking back but hey God used it for His Glory. To say the least, it was a year of learning balance and grace. We will be celebrating our two year anniversary only a few days before we leave for this trip and are really excited to be starting our third year of marriage in such an amazing, adventurous way! Our dream job would be to help organize mission trips around the world. Whether actually going on these mission trips or just helping others lead them, we love organizing and international missions so why not put them together! Oh and we have the cutest little kitty ever!!
