Welcome to our FIRST BLOG POST, by now we trust you have gotten a glimpse of where our hearts are at to see Gods Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven! We have been praying for opportunity to GO and answer the desire for overseas missions and this is where we are! Since before we started the application, our hearts have been changing for something big. Month by month for the past year we have been doing odd end jobs just to pay bills and be around a community that we felt called to at the time. As we pursued what the next step was for us, and encouraged others to do the same, the more God was putting on our hearts to pursue something outside of our home town.
Let’s rewind a bit to our first interaction. We were at a mutual friends wedding and knew of each other. We sat next together at a table of other mutual friends, we started small talk and just began to talk about American culture and traveling to other countries. We desire to see the need of Jesus in others and how sometimes this culture we were raised in seems to not need much of anything. The pick up line that got us dancing was “ Do you want to dance and talk about American Culture?”. The rest is all history. We got engaged almost a year later and married six months after that.
We love God, we love people. We are currently following Jesus, being changed by Jesus and are on mission with Jesus. We have had the opportunity to lead others as our church began to grow, able to give and serve the church where it needed it. Many lives have been changed forever and impact has been such a huge testimony to how the Lord is working at the church plant we have been apart of for over 3 years.
What’s next? House? Baby? Ummm…. how about leaving everything we know, selling all our things, travel and encourage others to live the Gospel? Like we mentioned earlier, God has been aligning our hearts to be on board fully to this next season and step. We believe not only is God going to provide all the financial needs, but to use us to meet the needs of others along the way.
So many questions. Our minds are on overload with questions and to do lists. In the next two months, we are selling everything we don’t need, moving into one of our parent’s homes, and trying to get everything we need for our trip. We are going to be living out of backpacks and sleeping in tents for an entire year. Looking at our closets and the blessings we have from all the things we have gotten from marriage, we are thankful. We are eager to see life in a different perspective, and in that we are so excited for this next journey.
We need prayer in trusting in God alone. We have never had to raise money for an entire year to live off of. We tend to want to be in control of our situations and in that is comfort. I believe God is stripping layers of our comfortability to see even more of our need for Him. In Him we live, move and have our being. We need prayer for our marriage. As we seek more of what God is calling us to do, the enemy attacks more than ever. We need pray warriors, we are inviting our “squad” (which are the people going on our route) into our marriage. We want to be better together than apart. We need prayer and support with financial needs, we have deadlines we have to meet, and in that I trust God will show specific people to give.
