Bibles for the World began when a young man had the vision to translate the Bible into his local dialect, so that his community could know the gospel. The very reason we have the opportunity to serve alongside this ministry in a widely Christian community is largely due to this one mans vision. There is a movie you should watch, if you can get past the cheesy 80’s cinematography, which tells of the origin story of Bibles for the World, it is called Beyond the Next Mountain.
What I love about this organization is that its primary goal has not changed since the beginning; to reach the world with the gospel. However it is not only bringing the hope of Christ nationwide, it is also providing practically for the needs in the community where it all began.

“What good is it my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?”
James 2:14

Three of the biggest needs that exist no matter where you live are, good medical care, a good education, and the funds to be able to afford that education.
Bibles for the World has built a hospital locally; a great facility for caring for the communities health needs. The greatest aspect of the hospital is it’s chapel where the staff gather every morning to read a small portion of the Bible and pray before they begin their day. We have had the opportunity to take part in their morning routine in the chapel and then go out to visit some patients. Most of the patients are recovering from surgeries and we were able to meet them and pray healing over them. Today, I saw a brand new baby, and was able to pray over her mother, it is in moments such as these that I see God’s sovereign grace.

They have also built a huge secondary school here in the community, where the children praise God openly, recite verses and pray together with their teachers every morning. Even Hindu families will send their children to this school because of it’s good reputation. I am fully aware that many of these precious children can not yet fully grasp what a relationship looks like with this Jesus that they are always hearing about, but through this school the Lords words are on their hearts and he can use that to transform families, and even impact whole communities.
Bibles for the World has enabled over 2000 children to attend school by seeking out monthly sponsors. Their donations provide these children with the money for their tuition, books and uniforms which they could otherwise not afford. Sponsors also have the opportunity to continue supporting these students if they choose to continue into Seminary. The seminary is raising up Godly leaders, evangelists, pastors, teachers and even students who want to pursue an even higher education.

It is challenging to facilitate 57 people, but our hosts have been so gracious with us. We have had the opportunity to visit and participate free medical camps locally, and have even gone to other villages, even Hindu communities, to pray for those who were seeking medical care. We have also visited the secondary school and participated in their morning chapel. Some of our ministry has included construction for various churches, one church that we were working on next to the seminary is being built because their old church can no longer seat all of its members! Once a week our team will help in the kitchen, as you can imagine, cooking for and cleaning up after 57 people is no easy task and we are so happy to serve our hosts and squad in this way.

We have had some amazing opportunities in our partnership this month, I trust that the spirit will continue to move in this community long after we are gone.

Please continue to pray for us as God works in and through us. It is our desire to continue this journey of meeting new ministries, taking part in them and blessing individuals and communities along the way in the name of Jesus. We would greatly appreciate any financial gifts to enable us to continue along this path the Lord has set out before us. Thank you.
Love, Andrew and Alyssa
