It is month 11 on the World Race and though we have the finish line in sight, we still have one last ministry: Unsung Heroes.

An Unsung Hero is an organization or people who are doing the work of Christ in their community. We look for organizations that could use the help of teams from Adventures in Missions.

Here in Guatemala, we found Hearts in Action’s Jungle School in San Andres, Peten. The Jungle School provides schooling with a Christian based curriculum and some meals to children in nearby villages. While we were there we were able to attend the schools first generation of high school students many of whom have grown up at the Jungle School.

Although The Jungle School is in a pretty remote area it provides opportunities for the children and teens who live nearby to have a better education and disciple them along the way. The school provides classes in computer science, English, art, music and band, Bible classes, as well as sports.

School wasn’t in session while we were visiting The Jungle School however we enjoyed getting to know the hearts and captivating stories from behind the scenes. Susanne and Mario, the founders of Hearts in Action have been missionaries all over the world for 25 years.

We were blessed to be able to share meals with everyone who is working on the ranch to keep it running. It was so amazing to see how The Lord has made this amazing ministry flourish because of their obedience to the call.
