The World Race just launched their first World Race “Simulation” trip to the tune of a month long Haiti relief adventure. It’s a month long simulation of what the race would look like. The WR promotes its culture under intensified conditions to expedite the process of brokenness and personal transformation as a “look in” at what the World Race is really about.
Caroline Crawford and Aaron Bruner taught on this culture for a couple of days before sending them out. They did a great job! I’m impressed at how well Aaron and Caroline work together. There was a change before the trip started and it turned out I’d stay behind and offer field support for the World Race leaders and begin on community development on the Short Term Missions side, both roles Aaron and I are collaborating on.
After their launch, Aaron and I returned and got started on community stuff at the base. After a bit of brainstorming, we came up with four basics of World Race/AIM culture that we’d like to promote here at the base.
Listening Prayer
Prophetic Activation
Worship
Feedback
Tonight Aaron and I taught the group on these and then spent some time prophesying over each other and worshiping together. I thought it was especially cool doing the prophecy activity. It was something I’d learned from Allison Johnston during the Novas training. She had half the group line up on one side of the room and close their eyes. The others then walked up to a random one of them who, eyes still closed, prophesied over the person in front of them.
The idea is to promote boldness and dispel thoughts that compete for our attention when trying to receive a word from the Lord. 1 Corinthians 14:31 says that anyone can prophesy and verse one of that chapter says that we should seek it out. 2 Timothy 1:6 says we should practice our spiritual gifts, developing and strengthening them.
After the activity, many people were surprised when God actually spoke to them directly or through the person in front of them. The challenge now is to promote this culture going forward with a group of leaders and support staff that won’t necessarily be around.
Personally, it’s really fulfilling being here and a part of something where the Holy Spirit is moving in a big and evident way.
