Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! What a wonderful year 2008 was, even though
it’s getting rough. It’s only out of love that God would allow us to go through
adversity. It’s caused me to rely on him for my every need.
Thank you all for supporting me on the World Race the past
year. It was the best year of my life! For those of you who have followed my
blog or seen me since, you know that I am a different person. I have a new
perspective on life and will never be the same. I want to bring God’s kingdom
to earth and live my life to the fullest always. You enabled this change in me
and your prayers often got me through the day. Thank you!
Let me share with you what
I’ve been up to since the World Race (the past four months)…
After two weeks home with the family, I moved out to Colorado to live near my
mentor, Gary Black, and a bunch of other World Racers who, like myself, want to
see God’s kingdom come and live in the spirit always. A blog reader of mine,
Dr. Andy Ingram, offered up his basement and I quickly moved in. My uncle
graciously provided me with a job. Between the Ingrams, my uncle’s family and
the Blacks, I had very little else to worry about. But still I wanted more.
So God took more away. He took more and more and asked for
more until, eventually, I had nothing to fall back on. It reminds me of the
trust fall, an activity I used to do at training camp for many of the mission
trips. The team would stand behind one of the teammates who stood on some
rising. The person on the rising would have to fall straight back, trusting
that his teammates would catch him. I fell backward, only to realize that God
was there waiting.
So now God’s sending
me to Nicaragua, something that developed over the past two weeks. The
basic story is that I came home for Christmas break, not knowing what I’d go
back to, but with a few possibilities pending. One possibility, working with a
ministry in Colorado Springs
and the one that I hoped above the rest would materialize, fell through until
late spring, early summer. Then I found out that there was a need for a male
leader to fill a new vacancy until the middle of May. It worked out
logistically when I found out about it, now it was a matter of prayer. After
talking with several people involved with the trip, I felt a great peace about
it all.
About the trip…
- In Granada, Nicaragua
- January
12th – May 15th - 5
guys, 11 girls - Community
living -
I’ll be serving,
discipling and guiding four young men (ages 19-22) in ministry - I’ll
be coming alongside to assist the established leader, who happens to be a
World Race alum. She is the female version of bullet point three to her
eight or so young women - I’ll
be mentored by Charles Kaye, head of the AIM base in Granada - The
are a variety of ministries, including orphanages, a drug rehab center,
local churches, and more that the team has been involved in
I’ll need to
raise $5,500 for the trip to take care of all expenses. Please prayerfully
consider contributing to meeting this goal. All donations are tax deductible. As I said, your prayers and support
get me through. So thank you.
