This is the room that we sit in every night.  In a picture it looks like a very boring room and probably not ideal for hanging out since there is only one broken chair.

In fact, there is nothing at all in this room.  It is four white walls and a wood floor that is it, but outside of the bedroom this is the room I spend most of my time inside our “house”(which is the school and the church).

Why do I spend time in this room and what makes it “The Secret Room”?

Well, it is because these walls hold all of our secrets, our stories, our struggles.  The things we’ve told our teammates that possibly nobody else knows.  This is where every night we gather to pour into each others lives.  We have no TV to steel our attention, so every night we intentionally gather in this room prepared to share how our day has been, how we have seen our teammates go about their day, and share our testimonies.  In this room we have been able to pray, worship, and take communion. I have grown to love this uncomfortable room.  It is uncomfortable in the physical sense but it is also uncomfortable because in this room there is plenty of awkward silence, tension, tears, and struggles being shared.  Sometimes it's not fun or exciting but it is always good.  We have only been doing this for two weeks and I’m excited to see how God uses our Secret Room to grow us into the men and women He has called us to be.

We are breaking chains and forming bonds

I challenge you also to be very intentional with your relationships and to speak life into those around you.  Don’t worry if it is uncomfortable or awkward, those are the things that will allow you to grow and it will be worth it.

P.S.  I have an amazing team!  The singing, laughter, and joy that comes from each of them makes me happy to wake up each morning and embrace the day with my Savior.
