These two were a huge part of my life before I even met them. Those of you that read this from Tuscaloosa may have had the chance to meet them last night at TC@T, but if you weren’t there, I want to take a chance to tell you a little about them and also try and link you to them and their ministry, The Sound of Hope.
Rusty and
Ericka have been a part of Adventures in Missions, serving in many different areas. Technically, they are considered “orphan advocates” but Rusty, a former sports anchor, also provides the World Race with monthly video updates as well helping communicate with parents while their precious babies are out on the field. Before I ever met Rusty, he was a huge voice of encouragement in my life while I was out on the World Race. It definitely wasn’t easy at times, so it was nice to have someone that had been there in my corner. Now, he and his wife are taking off with their ministry, The Sound of Hope, and traveling to raise awareness for the orphans in three countries; Swaziland, Kenya, and India. Their mission is simple:
“The Sound of Hope is a campaign to raise awareness and money for orphans around the world. We want to empower YOU to be a voice for the cause. We want YOUR VOICE to be THE SOUND OF HOPE.
Whoever you are, whatever you do – you have value. We believe YOU can make a difference. Just as we believe every child in the world has value, and every child has the potential to change the world. It’s why we exist – not just to rescue these desperate children out of poverty and disease, but to give them the HOPE and the FUTURE they deserve!”
On top of this, to help raise some of their funds, these two are selling t-shirts. The proceeds from just one shirt will feed an orphan for an entire month. If you are interested, click here. I will also leave you all with one of Rusty’s monthly updates.
