Saturdays are usually pretty heavy, busy days, but I’ve found a few minutes to come and tell you about a blessing we’ve had this past week.  Grace, Clara, Rebecca, and Stephanie are from Korea and have lived with us for almost a week now.  All four girls are in their late teens and have given up a week of their summer break to come and serve the people in Malaybalay.

These girls came alone because on their visit last year, they were so touched by the ministry out here that they knew they needed to come back.  I met with them Monday morning and helped them come up with a budget and schedule and then they took off running.  While I was able to help facilitate most of their ministry opportunities, I barely had the time to spend with them because they came to work and serve, and they made the most of their week here.
For one final outreach, we went out this morning to a hill village to invite children to our Saturday fellowship, and these girls were excited to meet and invite people to an event they wouldn’t even be able to stay for.  They have done an excellent job serving and have been a blessing to us at Mt. Moriah Camp and the New Faith Family Children’s home.
Also, it was just a blessing for me to just see a group in their late teens, leave their families’ homes and come alone to serve the Lord in a foreign country.  It shows that we don’t always need organizations, schedules, or even money sometimes, but it’s enough of a blessing to just have the challenge to go.  As a Christian, I may not always be on a foreign mission field, but am I just as enticed and challenged to go on the local mission field?  As I look at all these opportunities, is it really sinking in that not only are there just as many opportunities, but way more resources in my own hometown?
These girls are called to go, and so am I.  It doesn’t matter whether that’s in Malaybalay or wherever I’ll be when I return to the States.  The call is still there.
