Wow… this week has been sooo busy I haven’t had time to blog, for that I apologize to my readers. So to catch up on everything let me tell you what I experienced last Thursday.
Benjamin ( our contact) Invited us to his church’s Thursday night service at 7pm. We arrived tired and kinda hungry from a long day of construction and rushing around to get places on time. This was probably THE LONGEST service i’ ve ever attended!! Lol, it lasted for 3 1/2 hours!! But it was probably THE MOST HOLY SPIRIT FILLED service i’ve ever had a chance to attend since becoming a Christian! I’ll be honest and say that the first 2 hrs were boring since the entire service was in Spanish and I couldnt understand what was said. BUT the last 1 1/2 hrs was Life changing! Not just for me but for Benjamin’s congregation! After the sermon a 17 year old young lady from a ministry in Miami, FL got up on stage and spoke God’s Word with amazing authority!! I’ve never seen someone that young speak like for GOD! Now I don’t know what she said since it was in spanish but judging from the crying and snot hanging from peoples noses… God was speaking through her! When she was done speaking on stage she asked my team and I to come up front so her and her ministry could pray for us and speak life over us… I was kinda intimidated to go up front, I didn’t know what to expect or what to make of the emotions and presence in the room. When we went up the girl started to pray over each one of us (in spanish) and she began to pray in tongues!! i will stop there for a second…. Now before the World Race I was incredibly skepticle of people praying in tongues… But God has show me in scripture and through other believer’s in Christ that His Holy Spirit CAN AND WILL use someone to pray or speak in such ways. I still don’t understand it… But i WANT it… I desire to pray with such power and passion as these believers do, I trust the Christ in them and fully believe that this Heavenly Language is real and is tangible for all who have confessed Christ as Lord. So with that said I will continue… Her team and the young lady went to each and every one of us and spoke life and blessings over us and those of the congregation who came forth to get prayed for. Ok so now for the freaky part…. people started to fall on the ground and twitch in weird unexplainable ways! One woman looked like she was one the ground playing a guitar or something lol. When this occured my eyebrow went up and thought to myself “What planet did I fly into?” So I began to pray ” God remove my skeptism and the thought s of how You operate…. Lord Your ways are Not my ways…Have Your way with me tonight!” Just as i finished I felt a heat on my forehead.. it was hot enough for me to open my eyes to see what it was…. it was one of the girls team mates praying over me. So I closed my eyes once again and continued to pray in my head. Then I felt this man take my head in his hands and ever so slightly nudge me backwards as if to fall on the floor. I refused. He did it again and this time I allowed it to happen (someone was behind me to catch me) IT WAS SOOOO WEIRD AND CRAZY THAT WHAT I’M ABOUT TO WRITE MANY PEOPLE WILL DOUBT MY WORDS! As soon as I hit the floor I began to breathe heavily as if I ran a marathon but I wasn’t winded, it became my normal breathing… I tried to stop twice but couldn’t… while this was happening random body parts moved or jumped/twitched and all I could think of was “Breathe in the Spirit of God” in went on and on in my head like a broken record and I felt sooo much peace and joy… it finally stopped after 3 or 4 minutes and I got up and felt awkward and slightly dizzy, I thought it was over. But my right knee began to twitch rather strong and my next muscles contracted and released repeatedly. I WAS FREAKED OUT!! My body finally came back to normal I guess you can say and My team was staring at me like “What just happened?” The church was singing praises to the Lord and half of them began to dance around the room in Joy and praise to the Lord. I jumped up and down and just had sooo much joy and happiness i sang terribly at the top of my voice the words of the music! We get back home and my team is eager to ask me what I experienced, so i shared and answered whatever questions that i could. There was an awkward silence in the room after, and none of us knew what to say or what to make of it.
Now I didn’t tell you this story to boast about what happened or to make a story to write. This was a story that I shared to boast about the Lord! His word is true yesterday, today, and forever! There are countless people recorded in the bible to have been “taken by the Spirit” and have fallen face forward or backwards to the ground, singing at the top of their lungs, preaching with a Godly boldness and courage! So my question is to you the reader and to myself… Why do we skim over those parts of the bible as if their not relevant today? As if God doesn’t work the same as He always has? My challenge to you and to myself is to TAKE the Lord OUT OF THE BOX WE HAVE PLACED HIM IN!! His word says “Jesus looked at them and replied, This is impossible for mere humans, but for God all things are possible” so do we believe Him when He makes such a promise or do we just say “these are things that Happened back then and don’t happen today?”
I will write again soon, I’m running out of time to have internet in this hotel. Keep my team and I in your prayers a few of us have been throwing up randomly and have been physically exhausted by the work load. Thanks God Bless
