Hola amigos!!!
Ok so the low down with whats been going on so far… Tuesday we arrived safely in Guatemala City airport around 12 noon (2pm for those of you back home). Upon arrival we met up with some WR staff and 3 tour vans. It was about a 1 1/2 drive to Antigua which is my current location. Here in Antigua we are having our “Launch” which is basically alot of info about what we are to do in emergencies, money, bathrooms, culture info, what ministries we are going to be getting into, etc. Launch is also a time for us to come before God and lay down our extra baggage before we enter the mission field, its our chance to focus our attention on the father so our ministry will not be hindered by our regrets and shame. So for the past few days we have had alot of worship and prayer corporately in a local church run by YWAM (Youth with a Mission). So thats what i’ve been trying to do… just lay everything before God and come before Him vulnerable so He can begin to equip me to do what He has sent me here to do. It’s been awesome I’ve cried, I’ve felt joy, I’ve felt comfort and strength. It’s a good thing we have had a time to do this because i’ll be honest when we arrived and got into our Hostel i wanted to go home lol! I was freaking out inside, thoughts of : why am i here?, this was a mistake, what was i thinking, etc were racing in my head. But thanks be to God that he has layed to rest my fears and distrust in what He has called me to do!! I now feel strong and confident in what He has brought me to here in Antigua, Guatemala!!! My team and i claim this town and Panajachel in the name of Jesus Christ!! Day by day i feel fired up about what’s going on and about how much the team im with Loves and cares for one another!
So yesterday we were informed about where and when our actual ministry starts. My team and I are going to Panajachel, Guatemala tomorrow for this month. We are the only team being split up from the squad, we are going to be PREACHING, CONSTRUCTION, and TEACHING. Now i’ll be honest i have zero desire to stand up and preach in front of anyone! But God’s grace is sufficient for me and I will do so out of obedience. I’ am excited to be doing contruction though, I love to work with my hands, we are supposed to be helping build a church in panajachel. I do not know what the teaching entails, the details for that have not been worked out yet. Panajachel is a volcano lake town about 2 hrs away from Antigua, supposedly its primarily a free love hippy kind of religion there so it might be a little complicated trying to minister to the population there so keep that in your prayers.
It’s not all praying and teaching though, on wednesday we had a squad outing!! Before i tell you what we did let me tell you that no place in the U.S would EVER let you do this! We went to Pacaya Volcano!! and hiked up to the top and literally stood within 15 ft of the molten rock!! This volcano is still active and you can see where it has erupted before in the past, it was soooo incredibly hot and the rocks are literally falling down and you can see the molten rock underneath!! it was sooo cool. It was definitely an amazing experience to be a part of.
